The image here is of a rope being pulled in hand over hand. Also, the word 「想い」can have many interpretations including thoughts, feelings, love, hopes, etc.
(Avidya in sanskrit) can be literally translated as "Without light". It means the condition that can not realize the truth because of evil passions. Clearer explain, it is the ignorance of the true nature of existence.
This part is referring to when a deity or Buddha changes form and appears in this world.
(Preta in sanskrit), the "hungry ghosts" who have been jealous or greedy people in a previous life. They are described as human-like, but with sunken, mummified skin, narrow limbs, enormously distended bellies and long, thin necks. This appearance is a metaphor for their mental situation: they have enormous appetites, signified by their gigantic bellies, but a very limited ability to satisfy those appetites, symbolized by their slender necks.
The nuance here is of covering up, shutting oneself off, or closing one’s heart.
Although Kuroneko sings 「ひと」”person”, the lyrics say 「女」 “woman”.
