Strongilla Irtlach (1902-1983), a singer, an actress, a professor of scenic speech of the Leningrad Theater, Music and Cinematography Institute. She wasn’t a natural born Gypsy; however, she became one of the distinguished performers of Russian Gypsy repertoire. Her unique chest-voice, her manner of singing, lacking in superficial effects but deep and passionate, attracts a listener immediately.
