Akira Ishikawa (1934 - 2002) was a prominent Japanese drummer. After visiting East Africa in 1970, he became known for incorporating many African elements into his jazz. For many years, he led a band called Count Buffalos, which was spelled differently for nearly every album. Even on the Japanese releases of his albums, the English form of the name was used.
