A Written Apology was a metal/ metalcore band from Dundee, Scotland, that formed in late 2003 and split up in July 2006. The band was influenced by the likes of Heartscarved, Darkest Hour, Angels Never Answer, Still Remains, Iron Maiden, Poison the Well and early UnderOATH (pre-MTV2), with Heartscarved proving to have a particularly strong effect on the group's sound, which sought to combine melodic, harmonised riffage with a heavy, metal based backbone, along with clean, melodic passages.
