Abdou Day is originally from Madagascar, an island in the Indian Ocean located in South-East Africa. Always interested in music, in 1985 he met Jimmy Cliff, who encouraged him to pursue a career. He emigrated to France in 1989 to try to break into the music business. He started out singing backgrounds in various bands.
