Alicia Grugett, coloratura soprano, was born in Havana, Cuba. Her family came to the United States when she was very young, to escape a communist regime, and she is happy to be an American citizen. She began voice lessons at the age of 15, and at 16 years of age, she sang the part of "Amahl" in Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Creative Opera of Miami, which was also televised throughout the Southeastern United States.
