Born near Clarksdale,Mississipi,his first band formed at Mississippi State University in 1954 & was called "The Rolling Stones" members included Joe Tubb,Cuz Covington,Bobby Lyon,James Aldridge & Roy Estes.Local fame made them go to The Sun recording studios & pay for a recording session which included JOHNNY VALENTINE & TOUGH,TOUGH,TOUGH.Sam Phillips turned them down.
