Astrakan the post jazz, post fusion, post everything band was founded as the Astrakan Collective by Michael Garcia in 2004, a group of 10 to 15 musicians. A keyboards and vibes player, Michael composed all of the band's material with performances in Crystal Palace and at the Vortex jazz club. By 2008 the group had slimmed down to a 5 piece which recorded their eponymous debut at Cowshed Studios.
