Atrium Animae is a neoclassical darkwave project from Italy, founded by Alessia Cicala (ex-Essences, ex-Chirleison) and Massimiliano Picconi in the year 2007. Their debut album, "Dies Irae", was released in 2011. Their music is characterized by a neoclassical approach, where the basis of the composition is represented by complex vocals, and expressive instrumental parts centered around orchestral strings and horns, with strong influences from classical and polyphonic music.
