Burhan Šaban was born in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, then Yugoslavia and now resides and works in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey. At fourteen years old he mastered the Kur'an and became known as a hafiz, a title given to someone who is well versed in the sacred text.
