Calm-Still-Flat began as a recording side-project, during the time of Six Sick Saints and in the land of Hinton-in-the-Hedges. This was a time of hiss and hum, and all had the warmth of the tape and of the stone walls that surrounded. Calm, Still and Flat all agreed that the black stuff did sound divine, and so that's how it would be.
