Not a lot is known about Charlie "Dad" Nelson. He may have been from the deep East Texas region as he makes a reference to Beaumont in this song. Or he may have been from a Louisiana town just a few miles away over the state line. Wherever he hailed from, he managed to travel to Chicago in some form or fashion to record.
