Clarke! began musically as Devon Geyer by playing blues harp with his dad. After a two week trip to Ireland in the summer of 1997 he forgot how to play that and decided to pick up the guitar. After about four years of playing the Ventura blues circuit Clarke! grew sick of that and took to writing songs. He began listening to The Who, The Beatles, Bob Dylan intensely.
