At the age of fourteen, Corijn first set fingers on his father’s acoustic guitar. Until he had reached the age of eighteen, he practiced at a constant average of 6 hours a day in the attic at his parents’ house. Strongly influenced by the finger picking techniques of Nick Drake, Chet Atkins, Marcel Dadi, John Mayer and others, he quickly taught himself various styles both in classical as well as folk music.
