Cristian Vasile (1908 - 1985) was a highly known romanian vocalist in the interbelic period. His best known song is "Zaraza". Other hits include: "Iubesc femeia", "Aprinde o ţigare". The story tells that he was madly in love with a beautiful gypsy woman, Zaraza. He composed a song about her which soon became a hit in interbellium Bucharest.
