Doug Wallin was a ballad singer and fiddler from Madison County, North Carolina. Both of Wallin's parents, father Lee and mother Berzilla, were singers; Lee also played the fiddle and banjo and Doug's younger brother Jack plays banjo, fiddle, and guitar.
