Dronpe was born on August 16, 1982 in the grassland of Khyungchu, Ngawa, a part of Amdo region of Tibet. In 2004 Dronpe graduated the Chengdu College of Traditional Medicine and became a qualified doctor. She had never received any professional vocal training, yet her desire to "give people a little bit of happiness" made her to pursue a music career. In 2007 Dronpe debuted with an album "Ache Drokmo" that became an instant hit. Dronpe was nominated for Best Female Singer at Tibetan Music Awards 2009. Read more on Last.fm.
