Ensemble XXI became the first international orchestra in Russia with both foreign and Russian membership. Irish Conductor Lygia O'Riordan and Finnish Violinist Pia Siirala founded the Ensemble in 1989, after completing their studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
