Eugen Doga was born on March 1, 1937 in the village Mocrea Transnistria (the then USSR, now in district Ribnita, Moldova). He studied at the School of Music Stefan Neaga . At 13, he has literally barefoot in Chisinau to be registered at the College of Music. He was enrolled in the class of cello and was lucky to have a great teacher - Pablo Pacini, scion of a dynasty of Italian musicians.
