Frukwan was originally a member of the group Stetsasonic formed in 1981 alongside Prince Paul, Wise, DBC (the Devastating Beat Creator), Daddy-O, Delite and Bobby Simmons. After the group's third and final album Blood Sweat & No Tears, the group disbanded and Frukwan left to become a member of the group Gravediggaz where he adopted his Gravedigga alter ego the Gatekeeper.
