Giovanni Coprario is the Italianized name of English composer, viol player and lutenist John Cooper (around 1575 - 1626). In the early 17th century, Cooper changed his name to Giovanni Coprario, probably after a visit to Italy. Maybe he Italianized his name as Italian music and musicians became more fashionable.
