Austrian composer and teacher. (b Berne, 24 Jan 1918; d Oberdürnbach, Lower Austria, 12 July 1996). The adopted son of a diplomat (his natural father was a Hungarian aristocrat, Count László von Hunyadi) who was stationed as military attaché of the Austrian embassy in Switzerland, von Einem enjoyed a relatively prosperous childhood.
