Composer and teacher, born 16th July 1947 in Wroclaw. Pstrokonska-Nawratil studied composition at the State School of Music in Wroclaw, first (1966-7) under Stefan Poradowski, then in the class of Tadeusz Natanson (1967-71). She continued her composition studies in France under Pierre Boulez and Olivier Messiaen, participated in courses of the Institut de Recherche et de Coordination Acoustique/Musique in Paris, at a seminar on Iannis Xenakis's music in Aix-en-Provence, and was a trainee at the experimental studios of Paris and Marseille.
