Gypsy Sun & Rainbows is a band formed in June 1969 by legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix after bassist Noel Redding left Hendrix's original group "The Jimi Hendrix Experience" to start his own group, Fat Matress. After Redding's departure, Hendrix immediately sought out an old war buddy, Billy Cox, to replace Redding.
