Jaan Kuman (born 19 October 1945 in Kohtla-Järve, Estonia) is a prolific Estonian trumpeter and composer, who lead several jazz ensembles during the time Estonia was under Soviet rule. He did his first recordings in 1969 for Estonian Radio and he would contribute to several hundred recordings there, many of which later sadly have been lost. With the "Jaan Kuman Ensemble" he managed to release several jazz-funk EPs on the Soviet Melodiya label, featuring some of Estonia's best soloists. These recordings would later gain cult status.
