D-Train is both a nickname and group name. Vocalist / producer James Williams earned his nickname while a defensive tackle as a high school football player in Brooklyn. Williams began singing as a child and had extensive gospel experience. He met bassist / drummer Hubert Eaves, III, while attending school.
