Jamaal Wheaton was born 19 December 1977 in Detroit, Michigan, USA and got his start in music playing saxophone in High School & College. With a background in Jazz, Wheaton moved to Atlanta, GA from Oklahoma City, OK in pursuit of his music career. Wheaton soon found himself performing Spoken Word poetry in Open Mics, Poetry Slams, and many other festivals under the stage name 'Status Quotes.'
