Bassist and composer Kamil Erdem was born in Ankara in 1959. In addition to being the leader of Asia Minor, he is an instructor in the Department of Music and Performing Arts at Yıldız Technical University. Erdem was a member of Oriental Wind from 1981-1986, and a guest for the Egyptian group Sharkiat in 1995.
