Karlsøy Prestegaard originated on the small island Karlsøy in the Troms region in Norway in 1980. In 1981 they released their first record, a 7" single called "Shanty/Komeini". In 1982 they released their 10 song LP "Dyret 666". By many considered the most important full length album out of northern Norway.
