Kharag Penpa Tsering was born in Jangthang Chumur, Ladakh in 1978. His interest in dance and music drew him to get admission in Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, Dharamsala. Accordingly, he was in the institute for three years from 1996. He joined the institute to do diploma in instructor course in traditional Tibetan dance and music and Opera. He has been teaching as a dance and music teacher at the TCV school in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala, since August 1999. His first album was released in 2004.
