Korkkijalka is one of the most famous finnish bands playing irish music. It was founded as Shandrum in 1982. In the year 1984 the band, led by Kari Reiman, performed in Helsinki in the play Richard's Corkleg by Brendan Bahan. Hi-Hat -record company wanted to publish the music of the play, but demanded that the name of the band be changed into something in the finnish language.
