Lionel Morton (born Lionel Walmsley, 1942, Blackburn) is a singer and musician. In the early 1960s he was lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist with The Four Pennies. He is remembered as a presenter of the BBC children's programmes Play School and Play Away (for which he wrote the theme song) in the 1970s. Various LPs from these series feature his songs, including the Toni Arthur co-written 'Israeli Boat Song' and his remarkable rendition of Malcolm Carrick's 'Come to the Shops'.
