Magnús Blöndal Jóhannsson (1925-2005) was a pioneer of electronic avant-garde music in Iceland and composed the first Icelandic music in the twelve-tone style of Schoenberg and Webern. His piece Elektrónísk Stúdía (1959) is also the first electronic music composed in Iceland. Born in Langanes, he moved to Reykjavik at the age of five.
