Manticore was formed in 2000 by members Ixitichitl, The Maggot Wrangler and Satanael, to express their ideology and play the kind of music they wanted to hear: unholy black death metal done without compromise. In January of 2001, the band recorded the Ritual Cleansing of the Whore demo, which was later re-released on CD and vinyl by Breath of Night/Merciless Records.
