Pianist and composer, born in Paris, France. He attended the Conservatoire de Paris with Messiaen, where he later became a teacher in 1988. He began a career as a concert pianist and gained the Prix de Rome in 1975. In ‘Arsis et Thésis’ and ‘La Chanson du Souffle’ (1971) he gave a role to the breathing of the performers, and in ‘Clove et Hanun pour trombone, tuba amplifié, percussion et bande magnétique’ (1973) the noise of a building site played a part.
