Michael Hewett began his musical studies at age ten with clarinet and piano. Throughout his childhood, he awoke every day to the sounds of his father, Skip, playing Bach, Gershwin, Debussy, and Granados on the piano. His first exposure to rock music was listening to Jimi Hendrix, but it wasn't until he heard his sister's Van Halen records that he became inspired to play the guitar.
