Born in Tranås on 19th January 1950, son of Lars Edlund. As a teenager he was a rock’n’roll musician, and the development of this interest in an increasingly experimental direction led him to study composition. He read musicology at Uppsala between 1970 and 1972 before studying composition at the State Academy of Music in Stockholm, where he was taught by Ingvar Lidholm and Arne Mellnäs (1972-1975).
