Minzoto Ya Zaire was a band founded in Leopoldville (now Kinshasa) during the 1950s by Passionist missionary Jed De Laet (better known as Pere Buffalo). The band was a program to help troubled youths of the Billist subculture channel their creative energy. Music from the Bills differed from the rumba typically associated with the Congo.
