Born in Tokyo in 1969, Misato Mochizuki has obtained a Masters degree in composition at the National University of Fine Arts and Music in Tokyo in 1992. She then moved to Paris and obtained a First prize for composition at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris in 1995 in the class of Paul Méfano and Emmanuel Nunes.
