GRES Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel was found in 1955 in the east zone of Rio in the neighboorhood Padre Miguel, and is one of the big sambaschools of Rio de Janeiro. Already in 1959 the make part of the first group of ten best sambaschools and in 1979 they are for the first time champions.
