Formed in 1987 from the noise band Elemental Phantastix. ontol's first album, "Unaltered Return" (1987), was primarily performed by Hugh Helms on several brands of portable keyboards, a bass guitar, Tape recorders in various stages of assembly, and other objects that made noise.
