Born in the city of Santiago de Chile and grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina in a neighbourhood called Mataderos to be exact. At the age of 10 he began to play Spanish guitar and as a teen he switched to electric guitar. He studied with different teachers and finally in 1989, according to tango singer José Angel Trelles's advice, he started to study jazz harmony and improvisation with jazz master Walter Malosetti at his Superior School of Jazz.
