Phil Elvrum (no e) was the sole permanent member of the Olympia, Washington-based indie rock band The Microphones. In 2003, he changed the name of his band to Mount Eerie. Elverum is infamous for his manipulation of analog recording devices and unique recording approach. His records have a distinct, natural sound.
