Richard shot to fame at the age of 13 getting the part of Craig Harris in the soap, Coronation Street. He was in the soap for 5 years and in 2006, he won Soapstar Superstar contest against other actors from British and Australian soaps. After winning Soapstar Superstar, he was offered many recording contracts who wanted him to release an album of cover songs which he didn't want to pursue.
