According to many, Richard Rijnvos is one of the leading composers in the Netherlands of the "post-Andriessen" generation. Born in 1964, he studied composition with Jan van Vlijmen and Brian Ferneyhough at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, and followed a postgraduate at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg (Germany).
