Rip Rig + Panic were a post-punk band, founded in 1981. It was named for a jazz album of the same name by Rahsaan Roland Kirk. Its members included singer Neneh Cherry, Andrea "Andi" Oliver, Sean Oliver, Mark Springer, and Gareth Sager and Bruce Smith, the latter two formerly of The Pop Group. The group strayed from more conventional post-punk, mixing avantgarde elements with jazz and led by Cherry's innovative pop/soul singing style.
