Rob's sounds were established on the Isle of Man, where as a youth Rob taught himself how to play bass and guitar, and how to wing it at drums enough to surprise people who thought he was a one trick pony. He also had a really old version of what became cubase, that ran on his Atari ST when he wasn't playing Sensible Soccer, and he learnt how to use this too.
