Salem Place is a rock/indie/alternative band from Front Royal, Virginia. Formed in Spring 2007 by Colin Mason (guitar and lead vocals), Matt Mirus (guitar), and Joe Powell (drums), the band quickly fleshed out its roster to include brother Mike Powell (keyboards) and Rachel Shrader, who took over the bass from Joe, allowing him, when the group's prospective drummer proved a no-show after several practices, to step up to the drum kit himself.
