Painted on Water (2009) is an album and project formed by Sertab Erener and Demir Demirkan. The project has its basis in Turkish folk music; Fourteen Turkish folk songs are re-formed and harmonised with jazz, blues, and rock influences. The songs are sung in English. The name of the project, "Painted on Water", comes from a traditional Turkish painting method "Ebru", in which colours are floated on water, and a piece of paper is placed on top to absorb the pigments,giving a swirling, marbled effect.
