Seven Steps is a Jazz septet from Deventer, The Netherlands. Seven Steps was originally founded in 2008, to perform at the diploma presentation of Het Vlier, the school where all musicians are currently studying. The band was brought together by music teacher and band leader Marius Brevé. At first Seven Steps became known as that school jazzband. But for their first 'out of school' performance a real name was required. They decided to call themselves Seven Steps, after the Miles Davis tune 'Seven Steps to Heaven'.
